The drum kit was in a different space today, so I built a kit out of an old bass drum, broken pedal and some old hi-hats - put a decent snare into the mix and we have a kit! We were working on paradiddles starting with right and left hands - introducing a bass drum into the mix, accents, reverse paradiddles then embedding them into the 'fools gold' beat! Great learning from David today! His enthusiasm is fantastic - keeps me coming back to teach him. I like this video, showing how to incorporate the paradiddle into a regular ggroove - emphasising the timing. Introducing a metronome to this would be a good way of insuring rhythmic stability!
